Penalties for Second, Third & Subsequent DUI Offenses

Wyoming takes DUI offenses seriously, and the penalties for multiple DUI convictions can be severe. A second DUI conviction within ten years carries a minimum jail sentence of seven days, with a maximum of six months, as well as fines ranging from $200 to $750. License suspension is mandatory for one year, and ignition interlock devices may be required for up to two years.

Third DUI convictions within ten years come with a minimum of 30 days in jail, with the possibility of up to six months. Fines increase to a range of $750 to $3,000, and license suspension is mandatory for three years. Ignition interlock devices are required for up to three years after the suspension period.

For fourth and subsequent DUI offenses within ten years, the penalties become even more severe. They are considered felonies and carry a minimum of 90 days in jail, with a maximum of up to seven years. Fines range from $1,000 to $10,000, and license suspension is mandatory for five years. Ignition interlock devices are required for up to five years after the suspension period.

Challenging Multiple DUI Convictions

R. Michael Vang understands that every DUI case is unique, and he employs a variety of strategies to challenge the charges against his clients. These may include questioning the validity of field sobriety tests, disputing the accuracy of breathalyzer or blood tests, or challenging the legality of the traffic stop.

In addition to his extensive trial experience, Mr. Vang has been presenting lectures on defending clients accused of criminal charges for over 20 years, and he currently has 35 reported appeals before the Wyoming Supreme Court. He has been admitted to practice law in all courts in the state of Wyoming, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Ignition Interlock Devices & Other Penalties

Wyoming courts may require individuals with multiple DUI convictions to install ignition interlock devices in their vehicles. These devices require the driver to provide a breath sample before starting the car, and the vehicle will not start if the driver's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is above a certain limit.

In some cases, multiple DUI offenders may also be required to participate in alcohol education or treatment programs, perform community service, or undergo periodic drug testing as part of their sentence.

If you or a loved one is facing multiple DUI charges in Wyoming, don't hesitate to reach out to R. Michael Vang for the dedicated and experienced legal representation you need to fight for your rights. With his extensive knowledge and aggressive approach, Mr. Vang will work tirelessly to secure the best possible outcome for your case.
